Demo Workspace

The Demo workspace provides a ready-made set of sample nodes to help new users explore GraphCore's features without starting from scratch.

What it contains

The Demo workspace includes:

  • Learn GraphCore - A tutorial project with tasks covering navigation, keyboard shortcuts, and key features
  • Team & Contacts - Sample organizations, departments, and people demonstrating group hierarchies
  • GraphCore Features - Documentation nodes explaining views, linking, and node types
  • Product Launch Q2 - A realistic project with milestones, tasks, and team assignments
  • Website Redesign - Another project showing different organizational patterns

The demo data is 68 nodes covering every node type (task, project, milestone, group, organization, person, note, topic, component, event) plus a handful of cross-links between related nodes.

Creating the Demo workspace

From the onboarding modal

When you first open GraphCore, the onboarding modal includes a "Create Demo Workspace" button. Click it to generate the demo data.

From Settings

If you dismissed the onboarding modal:

  1. Open Settings (gear icon in the toolbar)
  2. Go to the About tab
  3. Click Create Demo Workspace

Creating the workspace switches you into it. If it already exists, you are switched to it instead of getting a second copy.

Resetting the Demo workspace

Once the Demo workspace exists, the same button becomes Reset Demo Workspace:

  1. Open Settings > About
  2. Click Reset Demo Workspace
  3. Confirm

This deletes everything in the Demo workspace and recreates it from scratch.

The defaults work well, but these help when exploring a larger demo hierarchy (Settings > General > Graph):

Setting Try Why
Max depth 0 (All) See the whole hierarchy at root level
Detail threshold 50 Show node details while the graph is small

Tips for exploring

  1. Start in Graph view - See the overall structure and relationships visually
  2. Drill down - Press Enter or double-click to navigate into projects
  3. View details - Press Space to see full node content
  4. Follow links - Click linked nodes in the detail panel to explore connections
  5. Try all views - Switch between Tree, Graph, and Cards to see different perspectives
